Max Lamb is a British designer and maker. Process is important to Lamb; it is in his nature to photograph and document each and every step. He inspires me to engage with materials; to feel them, to embrace them, to make.

My childhood home was in the country and I grew up surrounded by nature and trees. Wood is one of my favourite materials; it is natural and pure, and has a beautiful finish.

My father is a carpenter come craftsman, and throughout my childhood he was always making something out of wood in his garage; my fondest memory is the smell of sawdust.
